4 Skincare Tips For Humid Weather

4 skincare tips for humid weather
Summer in Dubai means “Humidity”, where sweat will just sit on top of the skin and will have an effect in clogging pores. During humid weather, the pores of the skin open and become enlarged which makes the skin more sensitive to gathering more dirt, oil, toxins and pollution from the environment. When we are exposed to too much humidity our skin faces more problems such as acne, blemishes, eczema, irritation, redness and other allergic reactions. So, here are some of our helpful skincare tips to help you deal with a hot and humid climate!

Cleanse, Cleanse and Cleanse
There is nothing more important in a skincare routine than washing your face properly in humid weather but also be careful not to over do it either. Twice a day is enough. Give your face a cleanse once in the morning and a double cleanse in the evening especially if you have makeup on. Washing your face too much might lead to skin irritation as over cleansing can disrupt the skin’s protective barrier and cause the skin to be more prone to breakouts or general irritation. Cleansing your face will help to remove dead skin cells, makeup, oil, dirt and impurities contribute to clogged pores.

Hydrate
During Humid Climate its better to use a more lightweight moisturizer. It is true your skin will get moisture in a humid climate due to the moisture in the air but it doesn’t mean that you should skip the moisturizer. Evaporated sweat, which contains salt and water, can dehydrate our skin, leading to dryness, breakouts and irritation.  When we sweat, our sweat contains salt and water, which when it is evaporated it can actually act to dehydrate the skin. Without proper hydration your skin will produce more sebum to compensate for the dryness and this can lead to breakouts and irritation.
It is also important to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day by drinking lots of water all day and help the skin flush out all the toxins in your skin.
SPF Protection
If the sun is shining or not, you should never leave your house without applying sunscreen.
Sun damage is one of the biggest culprits in aging skin, as the sun gives out UVA rays which penetrates into the skin’s deeper layers causing the skin to loose elasticity, thus increasing wrinkles more rapidly. The sun also gives out UVB rays which cause sunburn or tanning.
Wearing a good SPF is important in hot and humid weather, especially if you are going to be exposed in the sun for quite some time.

Facials
Applying a clay mask 2-3 times a week can do wonders for your skin in humid climates. Clay masks act as a purifying agent for your skin and helps to draw out any impurities on a deeper level in which your cleanser can not get into. When you wash the clay or mud mask off your face, you wash away the dead skin cells, dirt, oil and any bits that can be clogging your pores. It deeply cleanses your skin, revealing a brighter, smoother and healthier complexion.
It is also important to note that not all masks are made equal and it is important to find the right one for your skin type. Some masks can be quite irritating or very drying for the skin – it always important to test first before trying and important not mask too often!
